MGNY Consulting is a New York City property tax and affordable housing advisory firm. Michael Geylik founded it in 2008 and is its president.
What does the firm do?
MGNY works on the parts of New York City property tax where the rules are procedural and the deadlines are unforgiving. Its practice areas are annual tax appeals before the Tax Commission, RPIE filing and RPIE penalty removal, 421a and ICAP applications, exemption renewals, co-op and condo abatements, not-for-profit exemption applications, tax opinions and projections, and the non-primary residence surcharge that New Yorkers call the pied-à-terre tax.
Since November 2017 the firm has also run an affordable housing practice, marketing and monitoring income-restricted units. It leased its first 500 income-restricted units by January 2019 and began the lease-up of the 5Pointz development in August 2021.
