Michael Geylik
Founder & President, MGNY Consulting
MGNY Consulting
Michael Geylik is the Founder and President of MGNY Consulting, a New York City property-tax and affordable-housing advisory firm he co-founded in 2008 with his brother Yuri Geylik, now the firm’s CEO. What began in the family’s Gravesend, Brooklyn apartment is today a family-owned practice that guides real-estate owners and developers through the city’s property-tax system — tax-appeal certiorari, commercial abatements, and exemptions — and, since 2016, full-service affordable-housing marketing and monitoring. He built the firm to modernize the tax-certiorari industry with a technology-driven, client-education-first approach.
109 East 9th Street — the documentary record
Michael has made the complete documentary record of 109 East 9th Street — a five-story, 1860s-era single-room-occupancy building in Manhattan’s East Village — public: court filings, OATH hearing transcripts, DOB and HPD records, correspondence, and surveillance footage, so that every claim about the building can be checked against its underlying documents.
